I have an external SGI DAT drive that is capable of reading/writing 
audio. You can borrow the drive and a SCSI card for an extended period 
if you are interested in trying to take the data straight from tape. 
I've only done it with SGI's, but I'm fairly certain that the tools are 
there to do it on Linux also.
