[wplug] CUPS or lpr?

I've set up print servers using both CUPS and LPRng and have to say I
definatly prefer CUPS.  It has a nice web interface for managing your
printers and queues.  Also, I found that CUPS supported my printer better
than LPRng.  CUPS allows the printer to go back into sleep mode and doesn't
force me to print a blank page at the end of each job.  Theoretically, LPRng
should also do these things, but tmy experience just didn't match up.

which printing system I install. Is there any major difference between
CUPS 
and lpr, and are there any compatibility issues between them? I realize

CUPS is newer, but lpr seems to be default for most applications and
tools
