I was running under 16-bit and was also testing 24-bit color.

Actually, one thing I found was that if I changed the 'theme', I could 
sometimes find a theme that would solve my problem.  The one Mac-like theme 
and one other (I forget it's name right now--quick or light something) would 
work fine for me.

I also noticed that the screen appears to get horizontal distorision 
sometimes too.  Not flickering, but like a buz or vibration, so that the 
pixels on the edge of a window might seem to have static (horizontally) when 
moved or selected.  Is this just an issue with my monitor (like refresh 
rating?) or is it probably related to the original color?
