[wplug] Cable modem

Has anybody had experience setting up cable modem internet service from AT&T
Broadband using their RCA modem provided & NIC?

I am fairly new to linux and would much appreciate any help that could be
provided.

RH 7.1.
I am able to ping the ip address that is their gateway, so I am assuming
that there is some authentication process that needs to be configured. I am
not even sure about hostname.

I have read the appropriate HOWTO from LDP, but no help.
