when you run adsl-connect, does anything show up in /var/log/messages? you
can run tail -f /var/log/messages in one terminal while running the
connect in another. also i believe there is a way to connect with a
verbose switch to show you what it is doing.
when i first got dsl i tried to start it and it was doing alot of disk
access. it turned out that i forgot to install the module for my nic and i
saw the errors in /var/log/messages where it was trying to load a
nonexsistant module.
i can help you out with it this weekend if you need.
