[wplug] NOTICE: Unisys Mini-computers

The Unisys mini-computers are not in. The vendor will have only
about a dozen at the show but will be asking $25 each for them. I
have been assured that they will be getting more to sell us a
quantity at (I assume) our quoted price. At this point it looks as
though the February show will be the earliest we can get them.

The supplier from whom the vendor had gotten the original pallet
load had apparently increased the price ridicilously upon seeing how
fast the vendor had sold the first batch. They are now trying to
negotiate a price for a quantity from another supplier in Texas.

It seems there may be large number of these Unisys mini-computers
that were surplus auctioned in lots to wholesalers from some entity
that was using a mega quantity. If anyone has access to
dealer-to-dealer auctions or listings and wants to check around, we
might be able to find and negotiate a direct wholesale price with a
wholesale supplier somewhere. Maybe we could get them even cheaper
than the $16 we have been quoted.

Anyway, I have the list of names of those who reserved one or more.
I will be posting them on the web for people to check and verify.
I'll probably use the Pittsburgh Area Computer Club's site and maybe
also the WPLUG extra info site that Brian Sammon set up. I'll post
the list when I have it set up.

Dave
