[wplug] ISP providers in Pittsburgh?

Today around 10:06am, Vincent DiAngelus hammered out this masterpiece:

: Well my experence has been about the same with service
: providers.
:
: When I started fooling with Linux I was using
: Stargate. I liked them as a provider for my Win boxes.
: I got lucky and found the one guy they have on staff
: that knows Linux. I think his name was Mike??
: But for some reason I coulden't connect above 26.4Kbs
: even my transfer rates were down in the 2.4 - 3.0
: range. But when I dialed to a number in Butler (I live
: in Cranberry) I could get 48-53Kbs. I have been told
: everything from; "it's a problem with the lines in
: your area" to "you must have a bad modem".

I work for HighVision Internet Access ( not related to Stargate ) and
connect to HVI at 48Kbs with my linux box ( was RH5.2 and RH6.2
). I was able to play around with the chat scripts and netcfg engough
to make it work, it was my first dialup from linux. It has worked
great so far ( past 1.5 years ) and I've not complained, even to
myself ;-)

Anyhow, we have numbers all over Pittsburgh and surrounding areas if
you're interested.
