[wplug-plan] The Commission to Reform WPLUG (CRW)

It's been quite a week, hasn't it? We've finally started having the serious
discussions that need to take place in order to reform WPLUG. It's an
encouraging start, but we need to make that it isn't just a start. To see
this through, I'd like to announce the creation of an informal group that
will present a reform plan to WPLUG's membership: the Commission to Reform
WPLUG (CRW). Everyone is welcome to join.

CRW is not an official WPLUG organization. As such, we won't receive any
funding, but we also won't be subject to its bylaws. This gives us as much
flexibility as we need to go about our business. I'd also like us to use
the same mindset in our deliberations: check your preconceptions at the
door, be open-minded, and support the best ideas to reform WPLUG. Everyone
who wants to present ideas will have an equal opportunity to do so.

Before we can plan a new direction for WPLUG, we need to lay the
appropriate foundation. Our bylaws need updated. Can they be "fixed" with
incremental changes, or is more significant change necessary? That's where
I'd like us to start. At InstallFest yesterday, with most of WPLUG's
regular members in attendance, I proposed holding the first meeting of CRW
on IRC next weekend, and they agreed. The Steelers are playing on Sunday,
so it should probably be some time on Saturday.

How does that sound? Does anyone have any suggestions?
