[wplug-plan] Electronic voting

During today's InstallFest, Pat and I talked about Loomio
(http://www.loomio.org), a free software platform used for decision-making.
We could use to hold votes in WPLUG electronically. Many of us agree that
accepting membership dues electronically would be convenient; wouldn't
being able to vote with a single click be just as nice?

Vance was very helpful in explaining the history behind why we vote the way
we do. Rather than attempt an imperfect recollection of exactly what he
said, I'll let him speak for himself if he'd care to do so.

Loomio doesn't necessarily have to replace voting at general user meetings.
Let's say we allow our members to vote on an important proposal over a
certain period of time. If the final day to vote coincides with a GUM,
people would still have an opportunity to discuss the proposal in person
(and change their vote if necessary). Less important proposals could be
decided over Loomio exclusively. In doing so, we'd make the most efficient
use of our time at meetings by only bringing up the most important matters.

In any event, I'm just throwing out ideas here. How do you feel about the
prospect of voting electronically?
