Here are some references relating to this subject:

-EMR Update <http://www.emrupdate.com/> has very active forums.
Be warned that the term "Free Software" often means free beer
 here.

-GPL Medicine <http://www.gplmedicine.org/> seems to be mainly
geared toward VistA and is rather opinion-heavy. Still the
author seems plugged in to the scene and has useful info.

-Last but not least is Linux Med News
 <http://www.linuxmednews.com/>. Includes this interesting
 article: <http://www.linuxmednews.com/1173116026/index_html>
"Updated 03/06/07: VIPIS report. Live from the 1st WorldVistA
Education Conference and Seminar at Robert Morris University
near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is a 3 day education event
being put on by worldvista.org Highlights so far, Peter Bodke
just demonstrated his VistA demonstration appliance version 1.0
   that is available on Sourceforge."
