This is to let everyone know, that at the board meeting on Monday night,
we agreed to start something that I've dubbed "Operation Murder the
Penguin". What's this you may ask? Well, we've got a machine called
"Penguin" that's hosted at CMU's school of computer science.
Unfortunately, we don't have anyone with the same tight relationship we
once had, so things have the potential to become difficult or confusing.

Confounding the issue is that the current setup on Penguin is running
OpenACS, a software so confusing only markd2 could ever conceive of it
or use it. We need to change this. Also, penguin is old and busted.
No one knows everything that's on there. It's evolved to the point
where we think it may be semi-sentient and decide to change it's name to
skynet sometime soon.

So, here's the plan. We're looking for a new home. Someplace we can
establish a real relationship with that isn't based on a single persons
employment. Yes, we will most likely start paying for hosting.

But that's not what this is about, if you're interested in that issue,
join the internet committee.

However, what we do need to know is what services you're running on
Penguin and what it would take to get those services moved? There is
lots of stuff on Penguin that there isn't an owner for, and we need to
clean this up. Our goal is to have everything moved and tested so I can
take penguin into panther hollow, dig a shallow grave, and put a bullet
in it sometime around August 1st[1].

Anyway, speak up, or your services ain't getting moved.

[1] Of course, this is figurative. But some people will take it
literally, or even worse, I'll get a random email from PETA about
killing penguins and burying them in a public park.
