Speaker to discuss invaluable internet technology at user group meeting.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, December 6, 2003 -- Bill Moran of Potential technologies will be helping local computer users understand how to use versioning software at the December meeting of the Western Pennsylvania Linux Users Group (WPLUG).

Versioning software allows computer users to keep track of different versions of files as they change. It also provides powerful tools that aid in collaboration. This technology is critical to the development of software, and a key component to the "virtual office" concept. It can also be useful to the average computer user.

Bill will be discussing the use of CVS (Concurrent Version System), which is the most popular version control software availabe. CVS is available free of charge and is in use by many open source software development projects.

"Open source software has a lot to offer the average computer user," Bill said, "I feel that WPLUG is an essentail way that this gets communicated to the community at large, and I'm greatful for an opportunity to speak."

WPLUG has regular meetings on the CMU campus in Oakland and can be contacted through their web site: http://www.wplug.org.
