Happy Friday, WPLUG members!<br><br>In case you haven't had a chance to read over my <a href="http://www.wplug.org/wiki/Meeting-20130112#Meeting_Minutes">minutes</a> for last weekend's GUM, a new bylaws amendment (courtesy of <a href="http://www.wplug.org/wiki/Commission_to_Reform_WPLUG">CRW</a>) was successfully proposed that would eliminate the distinction between in-person meetings and virtual meetings for WPLUG's board and committees. Currently, Section 8.4 of the bylaws reads as follows:<br><p><b> 8.4 Virtual Meetings</b>
</p><p> By default, all Board and committee meetings are held in person,
unless by 2/3 vote at a prior meeting, a virtual meeting as described
herein is scheduled.
</p>The proposal would change this to read:<br><br> By default, all Board and committee meetings are held in person, unless the chair of the meeting chooses to schedule a virtual meeting as described herein.<br><br>Requiring people to be physically present to schedule a virtual meeting sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Most of the utility comes from being able to schedule virtual meetings at the last moment because of unexpected circumstances - say, a winter storm hits, but there's stuff that you <i>really</i> need to discuss.<br><br>Since this amendment was successfully proposed at Saturday's GUM, it now goes to you, the members, for final approval via absentee ballot.
