DRAFT Minutes for April 4, 2009

The regular monthly meeting of the Western Pennsylvania Linux Users
Group was held on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 11:03 AM, at the Wilkins
School Community Center, the regular presiding officer being in the
chair and the Secretary being present. The minutes of the March 7,
2009 meeting were approved as read.

The Chair reported that the effort to establish a wireless network in
the Wilkins School Community Center is proceeding, and that volunteers
will be sought as needed. He also gave some of the details of the
community center that the Kingdom Village Community Development
Corporation is establishing in Homewood. If they proceed with setting
up a computer lab there, WPLUG may be able to provide assistance.

The Secretary reported that WPLUG currently has 26 members.

The Program Committee reported that the 2009 nomination meeting will
be held on September 19 and the election meeting on October 31, both
at the Wilkins School Community Center. It also reported that an
installfest will be held on August 22, with the location to be the
Wilkins School if the network has been established by then. Ideas and
speakers for the May General User Meeting were solicited. It was
announced that attendees might be interested in an organizing meeting
for hackpittsburgh.org occurring April 5.

Mike Weychuck of AlphaLab introduced his organization, which is an
incubator for technology start-ups on the South Side.

The meeting adjourned at 12:42 PM.
