The regular monthly meeting of the Western Pennsylvania Linux Users
Group was held on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at the
Wilkins School Community Center, the regular presiding officer
being in the chair and the Secretary being present. The minutes of
the January 17, 2009 meeting were approved as read.

The Chair reported that he has been in contact with John Wallace of
Homewood, who is seeking to establish a community center there.
One possible feature of this may be a computer lab, which WPLUG may
be able to assist in setting up.

The Vice-Chair reported that he is attempting to get announcements
of WPLUG meetings in the City Paper, Pittsburgh Technology Council
notices, and other locations. He solicited ideas from those
present on additional possibilities.

The Secretary reported that WPLUG currently has 25 members.

The Treasurer reported that WPLUG has $460.87 in the checking
account and $173 cash on hand.

The Board of Directors reported that it has decided not to renew
the domain name pittlug.org. If a local group is interested in
using this name, it should contact the Board before the
registration expires.

The Internet Committee reported that it is looking into developing
a policy on what are appropriate announcements to be posted to the
WPLUG mailing lists.

The Program Committee reported that the topic of April's General
User Meeting will be on how to get the broader world interested in
using Linux. It was also noted that Patrick Wagstrom will be
hosting a release party for Ubuntu "Jaunty Jackalope" in April;
this is a non-WPLUG event. Yaakov Nemoy noted that an
OpenStreetMap mapping event was taking place in Pittsburgh this
weekend; details at openstreetmap.org. Jonathan Daniels noted that
a LAN party would be held in the South Hills the weekend of March
22; details at pittco.org.

The meeting adjourned at 12:10 PM.
