[wplug-members] Membership meeting on Saturday, Jan. 21 - PR proposal and discussion

On December 3rd, the WPLUG Board recommended the language below to set
up a Public Relations Committee. It's up to the WPLUG Membership to
make this language official. But no matter how it's defined, getting
the word out about WPLUG is still an important activity.

If you're at all interested in promoting WPLUG in any way, shape, or
form, please come to the meeting on January 21st. We'll have a
presentation by Aaron Powers on "Pearl the Robot." And afterwards,
we'll have an official membership meeting and talk PR.

Expect an announcement about the GUM sometime soon. Here are some details:

Here is the PR Committee proposal. It will be open for debate and
amendment at the meeting.

WPLUG PR Committee
A Public Relations Committee shall be appointed by the Board, and
shall be renewed promptly after a new Board takes office. Its duties
shall include:
1. To swell the ranks of WPLUG membership.
2. To establish and maintain WPLUG's reputation as a key organization
for Open Source in western Pennsylvania.
3. To maintain a high level of awareness of WPLUG activities with the
general public.
4. To obtain favorable publicity for WPLUG.
5. To establish and maintain contact with other Open Source
organizations to coordinate efforts to further the cause of Open
Source.
The Committee shall provide regular reports to the Board and to the membership.
