It looks like Bill Moran beat me to the punch, but here's a little
extra juice...

We will be having a membership meeting to nominate candidates for the
WPLUG Board election, to be held in October. The meeting will be held
on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH, starting at 12:30 PM, at CARNEGIE LIBRARY
in SQUIRREL HILL. This is at 5801 Forbes Avenue, at the corner of
Forbes and Murray Avenue.

More information and directions here:

We currently have five Directors, as per the proviso for the first
year under the new bylaws. Since we now have 82 members in WPLUG, our
next Board will have SEVEN (7) Directors, as per the bylaws.

We'll be taking nominations for Directors directly from the floor at
the meeting. If you'd like to serve, you can nominate yourself, or
have any member nominate you. Here are the details on how the
nominations work; it's all right in the bylaws:

After that, we will be taking up the change in the annual dues. The
Board recommends that the annual dues shall be $20.00 for each member.
This requires approval by the membership.

Finally, we will be taking up a resolution to amend the charter for
the PR Committee:
Resolved, That the special rule of order establishing the
Public Relations Committee previously adopted be amended by
striking the words "and serve as its chair."

If this amendment were adopted, the special rule of order
pertaining to the Public Relations Committee would read as follows:

---BEGIN
WPLUG PR committee
A Public Relations Committee shall be appointed by the Board, and
shall be renewed promptly after a new Board takes office. The WPLUG
Vice-Chair shall be a member of this committee.
Its duties shall include:
1. To swell the ranks of WPLUG membership.
2. To establish and maintain WPLUG's reputation as a key organization
for Open Source in western Pennsylvania.
3. To maintain a high level of awareness of WPLUG activities with the
general public.
4. To obtain favorable publicity for WPLUG.
5. To establish and maintain contact with other Open Source
organizations to coordinate efforts to further the cause of Open
Source.
The committee shall provide regular reports to the Board and to the membership.
---END

A more detailed agenda, and more details on Patrick Wagstrom's GNOME
presentation, will be sent later on.

We'll be needing 17 people to make the meeting official. Come out, and
make yourself be heard!

If you have any questions regarding the nominations or the upcoming
election process, feel free to send them to me, the wplug-plan list,
and/or anyone on the Board.
