Linux System Administrator -General Description:
Perform server administration as a member of the systems administration group to Linux and UNIX servers located at our headquarters and branch facilities. Duties include design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and upgrades. Provide escalation support via phone and email.
Duties / Responsibilities:

*        Daily monitoring and maintenance of over several hundred servers.

*        Perform back up, file replications and script management for servers.

*        Test and apply new software and maintenance patches, including patch management services.

*        Complete security audits on a routine basis.

*        Administrative scripting with Perl, Python, and Shell.

*        Work with server virtualization to streamline business continuity efforts.

*        Provide second level support phone and email support.

*        Install, configure, and harden new systems.

*        Support the creation and maintenance of business documents generated from Linux Point of Sale systems.

*        Perform other job related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Experience:

*        Red Hat Linux server administration experience.

*        Red Hat engineering certification (RHCE) is preferred but not required.

*        Previous experience with Oracle Exadata is a plus.

*        EMC Networker experience is a plus.

*        Solid experience with decentralized multi-server environments.

*        Ability to gather requirements, design and implement appropriate solutions.

*        HP-UX and other Linux distribution experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

*        Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Servers (networking and storage)

*        Familiarity with databases and web programming languages and automation

*        Understanding of High Availability and failover scenarios, load balanced environments

*        Strong working knowledge of storage environments (SAN, NAS)

*        Software experience with Apache, PHP, sendmail, postfix, LDAP, Radius, bind, clustering

*        Automation via scripting (Perl, Python, Shell)

*        File Replication, File System Tuning, Upgrading and Configuring

*        Troubleshooting.

*        Disaster Recovery design and implementation.

*         Ability to work well with end-users and in a cross-team environment

*         Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills

*         Documenting processes and procedures
