Network Engineer II (Reg full-time)

General Summary:
Provides systems administration support in the College's Window and Unix environments as well as provides level 2 technical network support.

Job Specifications:
Associate's degree in computer science, information science or related field and a minimum of four years related experience with at least one year of Unix or Linux work experience or relevant certification.  Thorough understanding of Unix, Linux, telephone systems, PSTN networks, network wiring and systematic thinking.

Job Duties:
1. Provides high level support for the service desk, field services, administrators and employees. 
2. Creates, deletes and suspends accounts in Active Directory.
3. Resolves account problems and printer issues. 
4. Documents and implements networking standards and procedures. 
5. Provides Windows network support including migrating services, building servers, deploying servers, backing up data and restoring accounts and data. 
6. Provides Unix support including deploying servers, resolving problems, configuring LAMP systems, maintaining databases, writing scripts, monitoring for security intrusions, patching of operating systems and applications, routing email, maintaining DNS and printing. 
7. Provides support for Hyper-V and KVM virtualization technologies and storage area networks.
8. Provides support for IIS, Apache and Tomcat web servers.
9. Monitors and improves computer system performance of the Unix servers. 
10. Provides on-call support for system emergencies.
11. Prepares status reports and maintains system configuration documentation. 
12. Keeps appraised of system and application technology. 
13. Works with vendor technicians on technology implementation and problem resolution. 
14. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
