	Well hello, Sandra.

I'm a bit unnerved by John's somewhat racist comment, but I do have
quite a bit to say about the state of recruiting - not just here in
Pittsburgh, but in-general. I hope I'm not too off-topic for the list.

I get between 2 and 12 emails from recruiters daily, usually from all
over the country. Usually there are misspellings, poor formatting, and
incomprehensible job descriptions - sometimes the purple squirrel
requirements. It is pretty obvious that lots of the emails I receive are
from folks that do a search for 'linux' on Monster, and blast email to
everyone that shows up. I get reqs for gigs in other states, and
frequently, not even in my line of work. If I had sent emails to
prospective employers in the same way, my emails would be (and have
been) ignored.

Sandra's email here isn't bad. I bet she'd come back with a more
descriptive req if I replied. Most recruiters won't respond to a reply
with resume, until there's another req. Then again, I'm not actually
qualified for the position, as I lack a college (and high-school)
diploma. I have 17 years of experience as a UNIX sysadmin.

Boy do I miss Don Kaminski, he kept me working, and would tell me jokes
over the phone. I haven't met any other recruiters like him, and that is
a damn shame.
