Title: Software Development Engineer
Role: Application Web Developer

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an experienced Application Web Developer to provide
development, installation, and configuration support for an
e-commerce/content website that will live in the cloud and breathe the
Amazon Web Services air. Additional responsibilities include the integration
of additional software services to support site business objectives. This
position is a full time, 'hands-on' position that will be involved
throughout the product planning, development, and deployment life cycles.

REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must have a bachelor's degree and solid experience developing
websites using LAMP technologies. In addition, the candidate should be a
motivated, self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks,
recognize the business impact of change, and provide input into design and
architecture to enhance performance and functionality. Additionally, the
candidate will have the ability to work independently and within a team
environment while collaborating closely with other engineers to help grow
and scale our web platform.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Expert-level experience developing using PHP and MySQL in a LAMP
environment
Possess a thorough understanding of web application architecture
Experience in building large scale distributed server applications
In-depth knowledge of Java/J2EE technologies is highly desirable
Hands-on experience and expertise with cross platform/browser compatibility
and client-side languages and architecture (DHTML, CSS, Ajax, JavaScript,
XML, XSLT)
Experience working with a REST-based architecture and RESTful web services
Experience with code optimization and caching a plus (e.g. lighttpd,
memcached, apc and squid)
Experience with database design and SQL
Familiarity with and adherence to web standards
Familiarity with revision control systems like CVS and Subversion
Familiarity with unit testing and overall QA processes
Familiarity with Queueing and Messaging Systems
Familiarity with framework technologies like Zend, Smarty and Drupal, etc.
Knowledge installing, configuring and maintaining Linux, Apache, MySQL and
PHP packages
Comfortable setting up, deploying and troubleshooting software in a Unix
environment
Excellent debugging skills.

BONUS SKILLS
Experience developing and/or administering e-commerce-based web sites
Experience with SAAS and/or Cloud applications
Experience developing backend components on Amazon AWS (e.g. ec2, s3, SQS,
etc.)
Experience running a cluster of auto-scaling and fault tolerant servers
Experience developing website widgets using 3rd party APIs
Experience building, deploying, maintaining, and supporting a community
based, high-availability website
Hands on experience with the installation, management, maintenance, and
customization of open source packages
Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies
Experience in building enterprise applications
Experience with Flash/Flex/Actionscript technologies

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred
Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks in accordance with business needs
Organized, analytical and methodical in day-to-day activities and decision
making
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Detail-oriented and thorough
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people
Should be genuinely excited about web technologies, have a strong interest
in learning about and playing with the latest technologies.
Must be a self-starter and motivated.

LOCATION
This position is located in Pittsburgh, PA (Strip District). We just moved
to a very cool and brand new office space – loft style.
