[wplug-jobs] Open Source database project

I am a researcher at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of
Linguistics, and I need help constructing a database solution for one
of my projects.

The work involves taking data that have been written into five text
files (comma or tab delimited), and putting it into a usable
relational database and adding a user-friendly front-end. Another
wrinkle is that there are five text files for each research subject;
these text files are relationally linked through keys. I would like to
have a somewhat automated process to collate all of these files. The
front end will also need to allow the user to export the data for use
with another program, which requires data to be in a specific format;
it would be ideal if this could be done in an automated export
procedure.

I need this work done almost immediately, but I think for someone with
database experience it will not be too difficult.

Pay is negotiable but competitive.

I am committed to making this project work using open source tools,
and I would like to make it cross-platform (*nix, OSX, windows, with
an emphasis on the first two). I plan to release this project to the
research community for use by others.

There is the potential of work in addition to this specific project
down the road.

Please email or call ASAP if interested.

Thanks,
Scott
