LinuxLink Product Manager:

 

TimeSys(r) Corporation is the leading provider of Linux Customization
Solutions for the embedded device market. TimeSys empowers developers to
create commercial-grade, custom Linux platforms that meet the unique
feature, footprint and hardware requirements of their embedded devices.
TimeSys delivers its capabilities throughout a hosted TimeSys network. 

 

TimeSys is seeking a Product Manager to drive overall product efforts
throughout lifecycle, from requirements definition, product launch, and
sales support to end-of-life planning.  The Product Manager will define
the business case for new products, process for release and lead
cross-functional product team for launch and life-cycle management.
Responsibilities include interfacing with customers and partners to
translate requirements and technology into product definition and
direction.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Daily Objectives:

*        Answer product specific questions from sales organization and
partner and customer services or from current customers.  This includes
detailed technical questions on current products and new potential
features.

*        Initiate product plan for new LinuxLink product, service or
features introductions.

*        Update standard price list as required and maintain ownership
of the price list.

*        Maintain a comprehensive understanding of open source and
competitive offerings and prices.

*        Interface with partners and semiconductors on product issues
and product launch process.

*        Track ongoing lead generation and opportunity creation for
LinuxLink product.  Report monthly results, provide insight as to
progress against targets, explain shortfalls and identify roadblocks and
corrective action(s).

*        Proactively develop requirements for new products, enhancements
and new features.  Lead the organization in the identification of these
areas.

 

Product Planning and Launch Activities:

*        Understand market opportunity and manage priorities including
new LinuxLink support, new features, tools and community development.

*        Define product offering and positioning for TimeSys products.

*        Define LinuxLink value-add.  Identify how TimeSys will compete
and what is required to specifically differentiate us within the
marketplace.

*        Recommend pricing and packaging.

*        Develop business case with Business Development to include
annual forecast with product mix and revenue for new products.

*        Develop a product migration strategy, if applicable.

*        Work with Business Development and Partner and Customer
Services to engage with partners on product issues and execution.

 

Process Development:

*        Create product launch team identifying contributors from
non-marketing functional areas and partner organizations.

*        Lead product teams and team meetings.

*        Author the product plan to support new product requests and
obtain management team approval.

*        Identify cross functional resource requirements needed to
launch new product(s).

*        Identify overall schedule and business case for new product
requests.

 

Product Launch Activities:

*        Identify product launch activities as part of the overall
product plan.

*        Obtain cross functional approvals on launch readiness and
accuracy of launch elements.

*        Create product launch plan with appropriate coordination with
marketing team and partner organization(s) including:

o       Online Marketing Programs

o       Sales and Channel Training

o       Product Messaging and Content

o       Documentation

o       Public Relations

o       Check-list of Readiness Items

 

Essential Requirements:

*	3-5 years product management experience with a technical product
*	Knowledge of processors, board hardware, Linux, or embedded
development desirable
*	Knowledge of industry practices and product management process
*	Ability to work in fast-paced, team environment that
incorporates requirements from various cross-functional areas
*	Works well within team, as team leader and possesses initiative
and project management skills
*	Demonstrated success in balancing customer requirements and
technology drivers against business objectives
*	Knowledge of product marketing, launch and sales process
*	Desire to interface directly with customers, partners and
vendors on product issues
*	A high-degree of comfort in working with electronic
communication channels (e.g., mailing lists, IRC, web-based
documentation management using technologies such as Wiki, etc.), and
maintaining openness and transparency
*	Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative
*	Exceptional productivity and versatility
*	Excellent written and oral communication skills
*	Solid understanding of online services metrics and management
tools
*	Understanding of Linux and Open Source Community
*	Familiarity with scripting, database and web design
*	Bachelor's degree in technical discipline such as CS,
Engineering or equivalent experience; MBA or MS degree desirable
*	Up to 50% travel may be required
