Allegheny College invites applications for the position of Senior
Systems/Network Administrator. This is a 12-month position reporting to
the Director of Technical and Network Services.

This position is responsible for day-to-day network and server systems
administration, including but not limited to campus-wide servers and
network routers and firewalls. Other duties include: perform new server
and networking installations; upgrade existing hardware, operating and
application software; perform and verify daily backup of all systems;
maintain system logs for backups, security, load and system errors;
maintain web based documentation. Will work closely with the Director of
TNS to continually develop & manage overall systems and network security.

Minimum qualifications include a 4-year degree in Computer Science or
advanced Cisco and Microsoft certifications. Must have extensive
experience with LINUX, TCP/IP, LDAP, VLANs, Routing protocols, Internet,
Microsoft SQL, Windows 2003 Server and be capable of acquiring
additional computing and technical skills as needed. Must be capable of
explaining complex procedures in writing or verbally and have the
ability to identify, isolate and communicate problems from and to all
levels of users and technical staff.
