It looks like the php53 packages are not designed to be installed
parallel to php:

I'd have to check if there's any conflict between MediaWiki and
PHP 5.3.  I would think it'd probably work just fine but need to
be sure.

As a side note, Linode is making some improvements:

Since I've rebooted, we now are running on eight cores, but I
think it is still the older hardware that will eventually be
replaced.  I haven't seen a support ticket yet notifying us of the
migration to a new host.  Does anyone monitor the wplug.internet
account at gmail?  I think that's where notifications are set to
go.
