Wow - i exected one or two responses, I'm really glad to see this many
people still interested! Looks like I will have to move things forward
a little faster than I had originally planned (I thought I might need
to take some time to recruit people).

A couple of questions for the group. I have heard that some of these are
controversial, but we will try to work things out the best we can.

1. Would anyone object to moving the mode of communication from this
current mailing list to an online forum format? I know that there are
quite a few forum apps available that could be fully configurable.
Personally, I think mailing lists are great for announcements and
one-way communication, but gets to be a pain when there are a lot of
responses. The mailing list would still exist for anouncements, but
regular communication could be done through a web-based forum.

2. Would people still consider attending a LUG meeting with no formal
presentation? I think that the best thing for our first meeting would
be to just get together, introduce ourselves and have a discussion
about the LUG, where we would like to see it go, Linux, and other
general geeky things. From here I can begin to plan more regular
meetings with presentations and the like, but I think an informal
get-together would be helpful.

3. And the question that I'm sure will raise some debate: when/where
should meetings be held? I can pretty much work with anything, but
would you prefer saturday, sunday, or an evening during weekdays? If
there is dissagreement on this, we can try to work out a way rotate the
meeting days/times to try to accomidate the most people. As for
location, we have heard Mercyhurst, the Library and a bar. The library
is more of a central location (and easy to find), Mercyhurst has a good
link of technology, and a bar has the happy juice. If there is no
overwhelming opinion on this, I will assume to go for the library for
now.

Thank you all for your support - please bare with me as I sort out my
schedule to make some extra time for this. Keep spreading the news,
ErieLUG is on its way back :)
