Make deinstall worked for the port, but not the source. The locations 
and files were slightly different, so using make deinstall from the port 
didn't get everything, and the official CUPS distribution has no target 
in the makefile for getting rid of it.

The DeskJet is not PostScript compatible, but foomatic-rip, a2ps, and 
the .PPD file from LinuxPrinting should allow this to be overcome. I've 
successfully used the printer under Linux and Windows on the same box, 
and would hope to not have to setup a print server.

I plan to look into apsfilter as well as magicfilter, after one final 
re-installation (I want to make sure I'm starting from a clean and 
functional system)... wish I could have made the InstallFest
