Thanks, Brandon. That's a great idea! I'll copy my distfiles cd to my hard
drive, and then try to alter your script so it renames the files to their
proper longnames.
Thanks also to the replies explaining the differences between Joliet and
Rockridge extensions, and how to enable them with mkisofs!
