[wplug-bsd] FreeBSD 5.1-CURRENT + nVidia driver problem

It appears you are correct, there isn't a -STABLE for FBSD 5 yet. It
appears as if that branch will be created after 5.2-RELEASE is forked
off. In my experience it's best to steer clear of STABLE and CURRENT
anyway, unless you're willing to deal with unpredictability. i.e., if
you find a bug that is fixed in CVS, you might have to perform a cvsup,
buildworld and buildkernel because any changes in world might have
matching changes in the kernel. And there's no guarantee a -STABLE
kernel will even boot (been there, seen that). That may be perfectly ok
if you're doing this as a hobby.

If your sound card works with -STABLE but not 5.1-RELEASE you can
probably find somebody who has back ported the change to RELEASE.

Thanks for the input guys.
I do have a question, though: I was under the impression that there was
not a 5.1-STABLE branch (probably incorrectly assumed). I thought this
because, on the ports page, it lists the options for 4.8-RELEASE,
4.9-RELEASE, 4.9-STABLE, 5.0-RELEASE, 5.1-RELEASE, and 5.1-CURRENT.
If there is a -STABLE branch for 5.1, I'll happily use it (and hope my
sound card works).
In regards to the nVidia driver being broken in -CURRENT, I looked
around the archives and found only a few mentions of the issue, and saw
that some people had been able to get it working while others had not...
I was hoping to be lucky... I guess not.
