</font> <br>The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Western<br>Pennsylvania Linux Users Group will be held on Tuesday, January 3,<br>2012 at 6:00 PM at The Coffee Tree Roasters at 5524 Walnut Street in Shadyside.<br><br>For more details or to add your own topics for discussion, see the<br>wiki page at <<a href="http://www.wplug.org/wiki/WPLUGBoard/Meeting-20120103" target="_blank">http://www.wplug.org/wiki/WPLUGBoard/Meeting-20120103</a>>.<br><br>A draft of last month's minutes to be read and approved at this<br>meeting is provided below for your reference.<br><br>======================================================================<br><br>DRAFT Minutes for December 6, 2011<br><br>The initial business that was addressed before the call to order was<br>the determination of officer positions for the 2012 WPLUG board. The<br>decided positions were as follows:<br><br>Chair - Terence Golightly<br>Vice-Chair - Michael
Loomis<br>Secretary - Joseph Prostko<br>Treasurer - Patrick Barron<br>Director-at-Large - Judi Galardi<br><br>The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Western<br>Pennsylvania Linux Users Group was held on Tuesday, December, 2011, at<br>6:32 PM, at Crazy Mocha in Squirrel Hill. The regular presiding<br>officer was in the Chair and the Secretary was present. The minutes of<br>the November 1, 2011 meeting were approved as read.<br><br>The Chair reported on the fact that he's responsible for the Event<br>Committee, and he proceeded to go through the list of committees to<br>acquaint the new board with all of the other various committees. The<br>Chair also shared his vision for WPLUG, about bringing in new members,<br>and raising awareness.<br><br>The Vice-Chair reported on his goals for WPLUG as well, mentioning<br>that looking to other LUGs for inspiration would be a good idea.<br><br>The Secretary reported there are currently 19
dues-paying members, and<br>mentioned he'd like to see different marketing strategies employed to<br>further the membership of WPLUG.<br><br>The Treasurer reported that WPLUG needs to have tangible benefits for members.<br><br>The Director-at-Large shared her vision for WPLUG as well, and<br>mentioned she would look into different meeting places for the board<br>to meet.<br><br>The Internet Committee had nothing to report.<br><br>The Program Committee had nothing to report.<br><br>The Investigating Committee had nothing to report.<br><br>The Newsletter Committee reported that the newsletter is in a stale<br>state currently, and some help would be appreciated.<br><br>The Public Relations committee had nothing to report.<br><br>The board meeting schedule for 2012 was determined. Terence Golightly<br>motioned to set the meetings for the first Tuesday of every month at 6<br>PM. The motion was seconded and passed. A designated location
will<br>be investigated by Judi Galardi before the January 3, 2012 meeting.<br><br>Terence Golightly motioned to set the General User Meeting (GUM)<br>meeting schedule for 2012. Meetings will still take place on<br>Saturdays in the afternoon, with business meetings every 8 weeks.<br>Installfests will be every three months, with the next one occurring<br>in February. The picnic will be in August, Nominations will be in<br>October, and Elections will be in November. The motion by Terence was<br>seconded and passed.<br><br>The appointment of committee members then commenced.<br><br>Terence mentioned he would like a special committee for Software<br>Freedom Day. That committee shall be determined at the next board<br>meeting.<br><br>The Internet Committee will be chaired by Vance Kochenderfer, and also<br>Patrick Barron and Dave Ostroske will serve.<br><br>The Program Committee will be chaired by Terence Golightly, along with<br>Judi
Galardi. It will be checked if Brian Seklecki is still<br>interested in serving his role.<br><br>The Investigating Committee cannot have any board members serve on it,<br>so Joseph Prostko can no longer serve. The Chair will send and email<br>out to see if the current people serving on the committee will resume<br>their roles.<br><br>The Newsletter Committee has Vance Kochenderfer as the only member.<br>Vance will still edit the newsletter, but is not interested in<br>drumming up interest for submissions. Vance will need assistance if<br>this committee will continue to exist.<br><br>The Public Relations Committee will be headed by Michael Loomis by default.<br><br>The Chair accepts the committee appointments as they are currently,<br>but knows they still need to get finalized. The Chair motions for the<br>acceptance in the current state, and it is seconded and passed.<br><br>The meeting adjourned at 7:34
