Joe and I were chatting today, trying to figure out plausible locations
for meeting on Tuesday. We assume that I'll be coming from Downtown,
Justin and Stanley will be coming from Oakland, Vance coming from South
Park, and Joe coming via bus line from work (I guess which bus depends
on which location....). Of the locations we discussed, we seemed to
think these two are the most viable:
1) IBM (Downtown)
Pros: Convenient for me (and I can get there easily even if
it snows that day); I know it will be available
(and as late as we want, too); WiFi available if I
know ahead of time; we can probably have our
choice of conference rooms (more suitable for a
board meeting than the classroom we've held
GUMs in).
Cons: Not really that convenient for anyone other than me
(and maybe Joe, as his bus comes through
downtown.
2) Panera Bread (Oakland / Forbes Ave location)
Pros: Relatively easy access for everyone (except maybe
Vance?); open WiFi available.
Cons: Potentially noisy; hard stop time whenever store
closes (I think 9pm - but due to bus
schedules, Joe needs to be headed home by then
anyway).
Alternate potential location (that we didn't discuss today, but I just
thought of):
3) IBM (Squirrel Hill)
Pros: Relatively easy access for Pat, Justin, and Stanley
(not sure about Joe and Vance); WiFi available if I
know ahead of time; should be easy to get one of
several available conference rooms; we should
be able to hang out there as late as we like.
Cons: Can't really think of any, unless the location is
inconvenient for someone.
Also possible (but probably less desirable):
4) William Pitt Union (on Pitt campus) or University Center (CMU
campus), as squatters in a lounge or
dining area
Pros: Central location; buildings are open late.
Cons: Stuck using a public area (noise, passersby); no
open WiFi; possible (though very unlikely) that
university security could ask us to leave.
Thoughts?
