The real question is, what would a Sprout Fund grant proposal look
like? They indicate that they don't provide "unstipulated operating
support" (in other words, they won't give us a grant just because we're
cool and do good things for the community...) - we'd need to propose a
specific project of some sort, make a case for why they should fund it,
and create a budget that demonstrates how the grant would be used in
support of that project. This is from their web site:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Sprout Fund welcomes potential applicants to the Seed Award
program with consideration of the following criteria:

          Purpose

Although each project is different, awards are generally made to
support initiatives that include the following characteristics:

      * Proposes an exciting new project, program, event, or organization
      * Creates a sense of community through engagement with the public
      * Requires resources to develop, test, and implement a pilot program
      * Falls outside of conventional funding formula, grant size,
        and/or cycle

          Impact

The Seed Award program supports projects that are designed to:

      * Raise awareness about innovative new community engagement
        projects, events, and activities
      * Engage people in taking an active role in the civic life of
        their community
      * Provide opportunities for motivated community members to assume
        leadership roles;
      * Foster a network of support for projects working to similar ends
        in the community.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sprout Fund is having a Funding Programs Workshop next Thursday at
noon. It kind of explains who they are, what they do, and how to work
with them. Does anyone want to go, take notes, and report back to the
board? I can't do it myself, I need to be at work.
