Hello,
You guys covered a lot of ground. I'm glad that we are discussing things
before we meet so that we can stay focused and on-task.
Point 1, pass the penguin language
As a member, Dave can make his "pass the penguin" proposal during the
membership part of the meeting.
Point 2, the gift of the bean bag penguin
As the former chair, I plan to gift my bean bag penguin that I bought with
my own money to Bill Moran as a sign of public support. This is not the
same action as "passing the penguin" as described in point 1.
Point 3, Bank Privacy Statement
Actually you can read it online.

Please let me know if anyone has any questions and I will call the bank
before Saturday.
Point 4, event announcements vs membership announcements
Actually I believe that we should publish two announcements for this
Saturday's meeting. One announcement is for the general public to invite
them to the meeting. The other announcement is to the membership to invite
them to participate in the business meeting part of the GUM. The general
public announcement is currently the responsibility of the Program
committee with perhaps the possibility to moving this to a PR committee
responsibility. All board-to-membership communications of course should be
the work of the Secretary. All of this is just MHO.
Dave, you do have posting rights to wplug-members if you choose to post an
announcement.
Point 5, Hosting
I've been doing a lot of these things myself that the host could delegate.
In fairness, most of the hosting tasks are now the job of the program
committee. While hosting-cohosting was an idea that came out of the fact
that I whined that I had too much work to do, I feel that we still need a
host and cohost to keep the meeting on task and make sure our guests are
taken care of. The program committee can recruit speakers, hosts and
cohosts, find other helpers, make sure that the speaker is ready to present
on the scheduled day and gather the pertinent information for the
announcement. As part of the program committee I plan to use the membership
business meeting time to sign people up for these various tasks.
I will be prepared to host this Saturday but I would like to have a better
rotation of this task.
Point 6, board meeting scheduling
This may be a dumb question: If all of the board members agree to adjust a
meeting time more than 2 days in advance of the pre-agreed upon time, why
can't we?
Thanks,
Beth Lynn Eicher
