heh.  The logical retort is "why yes of course.  You can form and run
your own group.  More power to you.  Here are some suggestions for
getting started.  WPLUG is our toy, though, and we can take it home if
we want to"

There probably is.  I know I tend to come to GUMs because I want to hang
out with 'the in crowd'.  I enjoy their company, and it's my primary
opportunity for face-to-face geekiness.

I agree with you there.  The society of entitlement.

There was an article I came across that I can't find now (it may have
been on kuro5hin or something similar) about how geek organizations
really work hard to not boot anybody, since we "tend to be ostracized
ourselves", but to the detriment to the group.  In the effort to
"be nice", the Bad Folks drive away the Good Folks.
