Members and Lurkers alike Greetings,

WPLUG held a General User Meeting yesterday March 10, 2012. The Board
would like to thank all those who attended our meeting:

John Lewis, Dan Martin, Stanley Slomberg, Justin Smith, Dave Ostroske and
Elwin Green.

Kudos goes out to our speaker Vance Kochenderfer for a excellent
presentation on the basics of using the Secure Shell (ssh). Vance's talk
an introduction for those not initiated to the ways of connecting from one
client computer to a server using the most popular package OpenSSH.
Examples were provided via slide and the command line terminal. The
audience was inquisitive and attentive while Vance took them step by step
through the different protocols used in this area from compressing
connections to using encryption keys for password-less connections. And a
good time was had by all. For those who have read this far I extend an
invitation to the June meeting where Vance will present on more advanced
uses of ssh. So you experts out there who think you know ssh? Why not
come out in June? Been lurking on the list for awhile? A member who has
gone astray? Come on out! We'd like to meet you or get reaquainted. I'm
positive Vance will have something interesting to present to even the most
advanced users. Well that is all for now. Remember this coming Friiday
we are holding an InstallFest for our new friends at HackPittsburgh. Check
the wiki for details. Hope to see you there!

Regards,

Terry Golightly
Chairman of Your Western Pennsylvania Linux User's Group.
