--------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

WPLUG is now under a new set of bylaws...
http://www.wplug.org/pages/bylaws

The new bylaws have four major changes
1. WPLUG will be a member-ruled organization with a board of directors.
This means that dues paying members will be able to propose and vote on
issues, run for office, and vote for others to take office.
2. The board of directors will no longer be self appointing but it will be
filled by election from the membership.
3. There will be an annual nominations meeting. This year's will be
October 15, 2005.
4. There will be an annual membership meeting for the purpose of electing
a new board each year. This year's will be November 5, 2005.

WPLUG events, including the annual membership meeting, will continue to be
open to the general public. Other resources such as the mailing lists, our
website, and the irc channel will also continue to be open to the general
public.

The purpose of membership is to give organizational ownership to
those who are the members of WPLUG. In addition to voting rights, members
receive a coupon for free pizza at any WPLUG gathering. Other perks of
membership may be introduced after the new board takes office.

WPLUG Members are those
1. filled out the application
http://www.wplug.org/membership/
2. Paid dues of $5. In person, by proxy, or via paypal.
3. Under the rules of the proviso, those who have fulfilled steps one and
two must also be unanimous approved by the board.
* After the annual membership meeting, steps 1 and 2 will be sufficient.

Please note:
Only registered members can run for office and vote.
The deadline for membership application in order to be considered a member
for the nominations meeting is October 14, 2005 at 9am EST.
The deadline for membership application in order to be considered a member
for the annual membership meeting is November 1, 2005 at 11:59pm EST.

If you wish to run for office, please attend the nominations meeting on
October 15. For those who can not be present, you may request another
member who will be present to nominate you. The ballots will be
finalized at the nominations meeting therefore if you wish to campaign
after October 15, you may do so as a write-in. All campaigning will take
place from October 15 until the membership meeting on November 5. All
candidates are encouraged to use the organizational planning mailing list,
wplug-plan at wplug.org, as a forum to discuss the issues.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,
Beth Lynn Eicher
WPLUG Board Chair
