Talk Abstract:
SMB (Server Messenger Block) is the primary protocol that Microsoft
software uses for interchanging information. The Samba software suite
contains a number of programs that allow POSIX systems (i.e. Linux, BSD,
Mac) to utilize the SMB protocol to interoperate with Windows systems. I
will introduce the various programs in the Samba suite and explain their
function, as well as provide some practical examples of how to use Samba
to play nice on a Windows network.
