Greetings Linux Fans
This coming Saturday, November 10 2001, the Western Pennsylvania Linux
Users Group will be hosting an installfest. It will be located in
Carnegie Mellon University's Newel-Simon Hall, room 1507. The
installfest will run from 10am-5pm.
All are encouraged to come and enjoy the spectacle that is linux. (I'M
PUMPED!)
Feel free to bring your computer and get help installing
Linux on it. If you have a specific distribution in mind that you
would like installed, you can email jo2y at midnightlinux.com and ask him
to either burn you a copy of that distribution for a fee of $2 and
keep the cd, or ask him to make sure that a specific distribution is
available for you to use, but not keep.
Here are some things you can do to prepare for the glorius
installfest:
* Bring your own power strip
* Bring cat5 or come early (around 10:00) and learn how to crimp network
cable w/ jo2y
* Label everything you bring with your name
* Backup your system
* If you run Windows, defragment your hard drive
* Come prepared with some basic knowledge of your system:
Hard drive space
network card type
video card type
sound card type
* $5 dollars for lunch plus any drink money you may want (Soda is $1
in the vending machines)
Maps and directions can be found on the meetings page on wplug's
website
(http://www.wplug.org/meetings)
This is going to be VERY fun :)
Hope to see you there
