Title: Copyright Licensing of Free and Open Source Software

Speaker: Vance Kochenderfer

My previous [[Meeting-20141018|Introduction to Copyright]] talk covered the basics of copyright law and how it applies to software.

This is a follow-on presentation discussing the most common licenses used for Free and Open Source software, covering items like:
* How they operate within copyright law
* How to apply one to your work
* Why you would want to choose a particular license
* What happens when disputes come up

If you have any questions about licensing, please bring them and I'll try to help.  I can't guarantee that you'll get a correct answer, though.  :-)

-The regular meeting of the Western Pennsylvania Linux Users Group was held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 3:20 PM at HackPittsburgh. In the absence of the regular presiding officer, the Vice-Chair presided. The regular secretary was present.

-The Vice-Chair reported that he has booked HackPittsburgh for the June 27 and July 11 General User Meetings. He also reported that he will return to working on the membership portal.
-The Secretary reported that WPLUG currently has 18 members.
-The Treasurer reported that there is $454.56 in the checking account with $12.50 recently paid to Linode for hosting expenses. The refreshment fund balance has not changed.
-The Event Committee reported that it is working on securing a venue for the August picnic.
-At the request of the Vice-Chair, the Secretary read his notes from the May 19 Board meeting.
-The meeting adjourned at 3:31 PM.
