Session Start: Thu Dec 20 19:00 2012 [19:00] *** patbarron (~pat@lectroid.com) has joined the channel. [19:11] FWIW, I have no new business this evening, other than that I don't have the wording for my proposal ready yet (due to real life...) [19:12] yeah, I don't really have anything to add either. i was running around all day and fortunately made it back on time. [19:12] so yeah, is there any other old business to discuss? [19:13] Let's review the results of the last meeting - hang on, bring up a browser... [19:13] So, old biz (at the bottom of the page...) [19:14] Point #1 - that's in my court, I admit to being delinquent on that. Will explain offline... [19:14] Point #2 - I think I'm going to be the one to draft that. It's simply a recommendation. The Board will do nothing with it in January other than acknowledge receiving it. [19:15] okay, sounds good [19:15] Point #3 - really is part of point #2, so that's covered as well. [19:15] Point #4 - I think the survey is in Justin's court, I haven't heard anything more since last time. [19:16] I'm happy to draft up a "strawman" survey, but I'm not sure what he's already done. [19:16] Thus endeth the points listed on the web page... [19:16] alright, well, maybe we'll get back to justin when things calm down on his end to see his input on point #4. [19:17] Yeah, I'd be interested to see what he has ready. I just don't want to duplicate work if he's already ready to go with something. [19:17] i completely understand that [19:30] *** happylemur (~vance@69.72.36.195) has joined the channel. [19:31] Apologies for the late arrival. [19:31] hey, no problem [19:32] howdy [19:32] not much discussion has taken place, as we don't believe there is any new business to discuss, unless you have some. [19:33] Not really, mainly was prepared to answer questions. [19:34] I think most of "new business" would have been with regard to the survey, which Justin is working on. So that will need to wait until he's around. [19:34] OK, I haven't looked at his demo site yet. [19:35] And as I mentioned to Joe, I'm delinquent on the wording of the proposal I promised - got seriously slammed at work, haven't been doing much else this week. [19:37] I did talk to Justin (via e-mail) earlier, from his tone he didn't seem too optimistic he'd be able to be here this evening. [19:38] Yeah, that's the impression I got from his earlier e-mail. [19:58] Anyway, I have nothing else to report. :-) We should have a January GUM notice out early next week. Hopefully, even with the holidays, that'll give folks some time. [19:59] Don't think so. Might be a good idea to put together a set of times for the timekeeper. [20:00] Good point. [20:01] I figure, we can have the timekeeper signal 10 minutes, 5 minutes, and then the ol' cut-off sign. Do we need more than that, you think? [20:03] Not really. I was thinking of something more fine-grained. e.g., officer/committee reports scheduled to be done by 2:15, and timekeeper would give a 5-minute, 2-minute, and done signal. [20:03] Each agenda item (or class of items) would have an assigned time. [20:03] That works for me, too. [20:04] In Toastmasters we use green, yellow, and red cards to signal. [20:04] If you want the audience to be aware of the signal as well, you could use a bell or something. [20:04] We should actually put the times on the agenda items in the meeting notice. I attend some meetings at work where they do exactly that. [20:05] Yes, that's good for planning purposes. You can't enforce cut-off times unless the members present want to, however. [20:05] this all sounds pretty good to me [20:06] I concur. [20:08] so yeah, let's make sure we get the announcement for january out, and set the times for the various items. we can then try out the timekeeper at that meeting to see how it goes. [20:12] Anything else before we depart? [20:12] i don't have anything. [20:15] k - I'm going to head afk, but I'll leave the chat window up in case anything else happens. [20:15] Good night, all. [20:15] Thanks! [20:15] night!
